Our Commitment to Your Privacy
ID Scanner is built with privacy as a core design principle. The app scans driver's licenses and government-issued IDs solely to help you verify age and identity for legitimate access-control purposes. All data stays on your device — we never collect, transmit, or sell any personal information.
What Data Is Processed
When you scan an ID, the following fields may be read from the barcode:
- Full name (first, middle, last)
- Date of birth
- Driver's license / ID number
- Gender
- Address (street, city, state, postal code, country)
- Issue date and expiration date
This information is parsed on-device using Apple's Vision framework and stored locally via SwiftData. No data leaves your device.
Data Storage & Retention
All scan records, including personally identifiable information (PII), are stored exclusively in the app's private SwiftData container on your device. Data is protected by iOS's standard app-sandbox and device encryption.
You can delete individual scan records or clear all history at any time from within the app. Uninstalling the app permanently removes all stored data.
Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, rent, or transmit any personal data to third parties. The app has no network communication, analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or crash-reporting services that transmit personal data.
Camera Usage
ID Scanner requests access to your device's camera solely to scan the PDF417 barcode on the back of an ID. Camera frames are processed in real time on-device and are never stored, recorded, or transmitted.
Children's Privacy
ID Scanner is intended for use by businesses and individuals performing age verification. The app is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date below and, where appropriate, provide notice through the app or the App Store listing.
